Floater frames versus gallery wrap
A gallery wrap pulls the image around the sides of the stretcher bars and hangs with no frame at all — clean, modern, and the more common choice. A floater frame instead surrounds the stretched canvas with a thin border, leaving a small visible gap so the canvas appears to sit inside the frame rather than being clamped by it.
The practical reason to choose framed over gallery wrap is composition. Gallery wrap consumes roughly 1.5 inches of image on every edge. If your photo has a subject close to the border, or text, or a horizon you do not want bending around a corner, the frame keeps the full image flat and visible.

Does the frame add much weight?
A floater frame adds roughly 20% to the weight. A framed 24x36 still hangs on standard hardware.
Is there glass over the canvas?
No. Canvas is never glazed, which is why it does not produce glare.
Can I add a frame to any size?
